In order to conduct continuing construction work on the new India Point Park Pedestrian Bridge, RIDOT will temporarily close the new South Main Street onramp to I-195 East on Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. During those hours, traffic will be diverted to the old Wickenden Street onramp to I-195 East.
When the South Main Street onramp was permanently opened in December, RIDOT noted that occasionally the old Wickenden Street ramp would be put into service to allow for construction, and promised “This construction would take place during the day during off peak hours and ample notification will be given if and when this situation does occur.”
