The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) today announced a schedule of lane closures that will result in the opening of a new Exit 20 to I-195 East from I-95 South.
Between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Wednesday December 3 and Thursday December 4, one lane will be closed on I-95 South between Exit 21 (Atwells Avenue) and Exit 19 (Eddy Street). Between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., multiple lanes will be closed. These closures will allow for the installation of overhead signs which will remain masked until the new exit opens.
On Friday night in the same area, two lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. until 8 a.m. Pavement markings will be applied, the old Exit 20 will be closed, and the new Exit 20, which is located less than a quarter mile to the south and on the right, will be opened.
All construction work is dependent on weather.
