The above-captioned case was scheduled for hearing on November 25, 2008 at 1:00 P.M.  At that time, Chairman Coutu, Vice Chairman Newbrook and Commissioners Richard, Pearson, Jackson, Preiss, Jasparro, Walker and Dias were present.  The fire service was represented by Deputy State Fire Marshal Octavio Vieira of the State Fire Marshals Office.  During the November 25, 2008 hearing on this matter, the Applicant testified that the State may abandon this facility and transfer operations to the new juvenile center located in the Pastore Complex.  In light of this, the Applicant requested additional time to develop and return with a plan of action for this facility.  A motion was made by Vice Chairman Newbrook and seconded by Commissioner Pearson to grant the Applicant a time extension to return on January 13, 2009 with a plan of action for this facility.  The motion was unanimous.  The Applicant subsequently advised the Board that he had recently appointed a new Chief of Inspections and was requesting additional time to develop the plan of action.  Accordingly, the Applicant was granted this request by the Chairman and directed to have his new Chief of Inspections work with the State Fire Marshal's office in developing a plan of action for this facility and to present it jointly to the Fire Board at a future date to be coordinated by the parties.
