FEMA/State Applicant Briefing

FEMA/State Applicant Briefing

The Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency will be conducting joint FEMA/State Applicant briefings on April 3, April 10, and April 12, 2012. The briefings will be conducted from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. All five counties in Rhode Island were declared major disaster areas as a result of the severe winter storm and snowstorm during February 8-9, 2013. The declaration is for damage incurred for Categories A – G under the Public Assistance Program. In addition, the counties of Kent, Providence, and Washington are eligible for snow removal assistance.

The briefing will inform eligible applicants on how to apply for Federal assistance from FEMA for reimbursement from costs incurred during and after the winter storm. Snow removal assistance will be provided for a 48 hour period. The applicants will be provided an explanation of what the FEMA categories are and what may be eligible for reimbursement. The applicants will also be able to set up a kickoff meeting with FEMA which will allow them to discuss their expenditures on a one on one basis. The briefings are open to State Agencies, Local Municipalities, Fire Districts, and Private/Public Non-Profit Groups. The schedule is as follows:

The applicants will complete the Request for Public Assistance form that day. The briefings are open to officials from all counties.
