Weather Update: Friday, June 14, 4:30 p.m.

Situational Report • The National Weather Service's (NWS) flood warning for areas in Kent and Providence counties around the Pawtuxet River at Cranston remains in effect until Saturday morning. There is moderate flooding occurring on the Pawtuxet River. The river is expected to crest at 11.2 feet overnight Friday into Saturday. The river is expected to gradually fall starting late Saturday. A flood warning for southwestern Washington county remains in place until 7:30 p.m. Friday. Minor flooding was reported Friday morning along the Pawcatuck River in Westerly. At 5:15 a.m. Friday, the Pawcatuck River was at 7.4 feet. (Flood stage for the Pawcatuck is 7.0 feet.) The river is expected to crest near 7.7 feet on Friday afternoon but will remain in minor flood stage through the weekend. • NWS has issued a flood warning for areas in Providence county around the Blackstone River at Woonsocket. • NWS's flood watch for the entire state remains in place until midnight on Friday. • Residents living in flood-prone areas or along river banks should be alert and aware that rivers may continue to rise even after the rains stop.
