Extreme Cold Air Warning

When wind chills fall to -15 degrees, exposed skin can freeze in 30 minutes

The coldest air of the season thus far will be over our State for the next 36 hours. At 8:00 AM Temperatures across the State ranged from around +8 F in the Hills to around +16 F at the coast with Wind Chills ranging from – 20 F in the Hills to near 0 F at the Coast. A Wind Advisory is in effect for all of Rhode Island until 5:00 PM this afternoon for NW Winds gusting to 45 MPH at times today.

Today… Highs ranging from the teens in the NW and NE hills to near 20 º F along the coast. Wind Chills for the entire State will be around 0 º F today.

The forecast for tonight and Saturday… Very cold with lows tonight ranging from near 0 º F in the Hills, single digits in Central RI and near +10 º F along the coast with Wind Chills ranging from - 20 º F in the hills to - 5 º F along the coast. Highs on Saturday are forecast to range from the upper teens in the Hills to 28 º F at the coast. Wind Chills on Saturday are forecast to range from 0 º F in the hills up to near +15 º F at the coast.

Saturday Night… Cold with lows in the single digits and wind chills around -5 F.

Sunday and Monday…Moderating Temperatures with Highs Sunday in the upper 20’s and reaching the low 30’s on Monday. Lows Sunday night in the Teens.
