Lt. Gov. Roberts Takes Statewide Arts and Culture Tour to Edit Session for National Broadcast by Local Documentary Filmmakers

Roberts’ tour to highlight impact of arts and culture businesses on local economy

PROVIDENCE—Lt. Gov. Elizabeth H. Roberts will take her Statewide Arts and Culture Tour for Buy Local RI to an edit session for local documentary filmmakers Providence Pictures, at work on a national broadcast for PBS, Friday, February 26 at 1:00 p.m.

The month-long Statewide Arts and Culture Tour for Buy Local RI highlights arts and culture businesses that create direct economic growth, jobs and new entrepreneurial ventures in Rhode Island.

“Since the Statewide Arts and Culture Tour launched, I have been to artist studios and galleries, visited small jewelry, craft and furniture manufacturers, and attended on-stage performances—all representing small businesses of the arts and culture sector that are a key component of Rhode Island’s economy,” Roberts said. “The businesses that make up the creative community grow our economy, create jobs, and help make Rhode Island a unique state to live or visit. As we work to support our locally-grown small businesses throughout the state, we cannot leave the arts and cultural economy behind.”

Lt. Gov. Roberts will tour the production facilities of independent documentary filmmakers Providence Pictures and observe an edit session for an upcoming film “Cathedrals Decoded” for the PBS series Nova.
