Secretary of State Mollis to Help Cranston Elementary School to Kick off "Reading Week" Celebration

PROVIDENCE, RI -- Secretary of State A. Ralph Mollis will visit Woodridge Elementary School, 401 Budlong Rd., Cranston, this Mon., April 4, at 9:15 a.m. to kick off the school's "Reading Week" celebration.

Woodridge's 3rd-grade classes will listen to Mollis read "I Can Do That," which is the inspiring story of Esther Morris, who played a key role in getting women the right to vote in Wyoming Territory in 1869 and who became the first woman in the United States to hold public office. Mollis will also take questions from the students.

School Supt. Peter Nero and Andrea Iannazzi of the School Committee are expected to join Mollis. As part of Woodridge's celebration of "Reading Week," students are encouraged to wear their favorite baseball team's jersey, t-shirt, hat or team color.

Secretary of State Mollis is committed to making it easier for Rhode Islanders to vote, helping businesses grow and making government more open and accessible. For more information about the programs and services the Secretary of State offers Rhode Islanders, visit sos.ri.gov.
