Barrington Man Pleads to DUI Death Resulting

Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin announced that Matthew Sullivan, DOB: 10/31/85, with a last known address of Grant Street, Barrington, pleaded nolo contendere yesterday before Superior Court Magistrate William McAtee to DUI death resulting and leaving the scene of an accident death resulting in the 2009 accident that killed Joseph Hunt, DOB: 6/15/81, of Fall River.

Sullivan was sentenced to 15 years with seven to serve - three to be served at the ACI and four to be served on home confinement – with the remainder of the sentence suspended with probation. Sullivan, who has been out on $50,000 with surety bail, was remanded to the ACI.

After leaving a bar, Sullivan was driving north on Hope Street in Bristol around 1:30 a.m. when struck and killed Joseph Hunt, who was walking on the side of the road. Sullivan left the scene of the accident. He surrendered hours later to the Barrington Police and was turned over to the Bristol Police.

Assistant Attorney General Jay Sullivan handled the case for the Office of Attorney General.
