State Arts Council Announces 2012 Fellowship Exhibition to Open in Pawtucket

The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts will present the 8th Annual RISCA Fellowship Exhibition, showcasing work by 26 artists who received Fellowship Awards from the State Arts Council over the past year. The Fellowship Exhibition will run from February 2 - 25 at Machines With Magnets, an art space located at 400 Main St in Pawtucket.

Gallery hours for the show will be from Tuesday through Friday from 11 AM to 5 PM.

The RISCA Fellowship Exhibition is an annual event that showcases the works of Rhode Island artists who have received awards from the State Arts Council for artistic excellence in their discipline. Fellowship Winners receive a $5000 award and Merit Award Winners receive a $1000 award. Artwork by each of these artists will be included in the 2012 Fellowship Exhibition.

This year the RISCA Fellowship Exhibition will take place at Machines with Magnets in Pawtucket. The public is invited to attend the Opening Reception on Friday, February 3 from 5-8:00 PM. The Fellowship Writers Night will be held on Friday, February 17 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM, when Fellowship Award Winners in poetry, fiction and playwrighting/screenwriting will read from their most recent works. There will also be an exhibition Artists Talk and Closing Night on Saturday, February 25 from 1-4:00 PM, when Fellowship Artists will talk about their creative process.

All events are free and open to the public.

These artists represent some of the finest creative talent our state has to offer," says Cristina DiChiera, Director of Artists Programs for the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.

Artists featured in the 2012 RISCA Fellowship Exhibition include Scott Alario, China Blue, Colleen Cavanaugh, Mia Chung, Dave Cole, Edward J. Delaney, Carl Dimitri, Yizhak Elyashiv, Christine Evans, Jenna Goldberg, Jamie Jewett, Steven Jobe, Hester Kaplan, Mo Kelman, Barbara Kolb, Resad Kulenovic, Sidy Maiga, Megan & Murray McMillan, Mary Beth Meehan, Agata Michalowska, Shanthi Muthu, Julie Danho O'Connell, Pike Powers, Dan Talbot and Max Winter.
