Attorney General Kilmartin Offers New Ways for Rhode Islanders to Contact Office via www.riag.ri.gov

Recognizing that more people use the Internet for information and to contact elected officials with questions or complaints, Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin has updated the Office of Attorney General website, www.riag.ri.gov, to enable constituents to contact the Office directly with two new contact forms: one specifically to contact Kilmartin and a new electronic consumer complaint form.

"Often, a constituent will call the office unsure of whom they need to speak with about a particular issue. This new contact form will give the public more direct access to the appropriate individual in the Office and allow our staff to assist constituents more effectively and efficiently," said Attorney General Kilmartin. "I strive to be responsive to the public and continually look to improve how we interact with the public and the Office. I hope people find the new forms helpful, and will let us know if there are other ways we can better serve them."

The new electronic "Contact Us" form (http://www.riag.ri.gov/contact/onlinecontact.php) allows constituents to specify the reason for contacting the office, whether it is to write Attorney General Kilmartin directly, invite the Attorney General to an event, seeking information from either the Civil or Criminal Division, ask a question about Open Government, or to request assistance from the department's Victim Services team. The completed form is sent directly to the Attorney General's executive staff, who will personally ensure that each inquiry is forwarded to the appropriate employee and is followed up in a timely manner.

Previously, in order to submit a consumer complaint, individuals had to print, complete and submit a hard copy complaint form. The new "Electronic Consumer Complaint Form" (http://www.riag.ri.gov/contact/consumercomplaint.php) includes the same information as the printed complaint form and can be submitted quickly and easily online. The electronic complaint form is routed directly to the Consumer Protection Unit for follow up.
