If you've changed your name, you must change it on your license, registration and title. It's important that you first have your name changed with the Social Security Administration. Note that there is a 24-hour waiting period for the updates to your Social Security information. After processed, you should go to any one of the DMV locations with your new Social Security card. Also bring a legal document showing the new name. The DMV will process a new license.
To change your name on your registration, bring your new license with your new name (the temporary license will suffice). Also bring your title, your legal document, and proof of auto insurance. You will also be asked to fill out the TR-1 form. Costs of both of these services are listed in the DMV Fee Table found on the DMV website.
If the title is in your possession, you must sign it over to yourself by signing your former name on the back of the title as "seller". Then sign your new name as the "buyer". If you don't have the title, please contact DMV for information on how to proceed.
