On April 19, 2012, the Office of the Health Insurance Commissioner issued guidance to all health insurers in Rhode Island regarding the submission of the rate factors they intend to apply to their small and large group products sold in 2013. On Friday May 18, 2012 the Office received these filings from Tufts Health Plan, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island, and United Healthcare.
The Office has started to analyze these rate factors with the goal of decisions on them by the end of June. As part of that process, the Office will post its analysis and updates on its website, solicit public comment, and hold one or more public meetings. The Office encourages all interested parties to check its website regularly and to signup to receive updates.
