RIEMA Seeks Public Input on State's Hazard Mitigation Plan

Hurricanes. Blizzards. Floods. Are you prepared? The Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency (RIEMA) wants to hear from you.

The Rhode Island State Hazard Mitigation Plan must be updated every three years in order for the State to be eligible for Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funding following a presidentially-declared disaster. The Plan outlines the identified risks and vulnerabilities to damage from natural hazards throughout the state as well as mitigation actions to create more resilient communities. The next update is due in April 2014.

The on-line survey takes 10-15 minutes to complete and can be accessed at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RISHMP. The deadline to respond is June 19, 2013. Survey results will be compiled and reviewed by the State Hazard Mitigation Team and used during discussions about progress on current mitigation strategies and identification of additional necessary mitigation actions.
