Colonel Steven G. O'Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of Public Safety, announces the first arrest at the Twin River Casino relating to the integrity of table games.
On July 10, 2013 at 2:45AM, a member of the Rhode Island State Police Gaming Enforcement Unit (GEU) arrested Steven E. Sabitoni, age 46, of 10 School Road, Lincoln, Rhode Island for one count of larceny under $1,500. The investigation of this incident began when a member of Twin River Security alerted the GEU detective that while seated at a blackjack table, Sabitoni took chips from another patron. The GEU detective viewed the relevant video surveillance footage and confirmed that Sabitoni took chips valued at $250 from the patron sitting next to him. The GEU detective arrested Sabitoni for the alleged larceny and Twin River Casino personnel served Sabitoni with a permanent ejection notification.
Sabitoni was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and arraigned in Sixth Division District Court. The Honorable Magistrate Joseph P. Ippolito, Jr. released Sabitoni on personal recognizance of $1,000.
Colonel Steven G. O'Donnell stated "The integrity of the gaming conducted at Twin River is a major priority of the Rhode Island State Police. Those who decide to interfere with the rules and laws governing the Casino will be dealt with in the appropriate manner."
