Colonel Steven G. O'Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety announces, that the next Rhode Island State Police Training Academy class begins on Monday, July 15, 2013.
Forty student troopers will begin twenty-two weeks of para-military training, which includes rigorous academic and physical fitness components. Recruits were selected from among 1,666 applicants. They have passed a written examination, physical agility test, oral board interview, extensive background investigation, and psychological and medical examinations.
We are proud of the candidates who have been selected as recruits for the Rhode Island State Police Training Academy and invite you to join us in welcoming them. Members of the media, who would like to attend the opening, should report to the Rhode Island State Police Training Academy at 10:15 a.m., but no later than 10:30 a.m.
Directions: From Route 295 north or south take Exit 6B, Route 6 west. Follow Route 6 into Scituate. After the traffic light at McDonald's, bear right. Do not bear left to State Police Headquarters. The next intersection will be Route 116. Go straight through and stay right at the next fork. Do not take the Route 6 By-Pass. The next intersection will be Route 102. Continue straight on Route 101 and travel 3.5 miles and take a left at the second blinking light. This is Boss Road. Travel one mile on Boss Road, and you will see a metal gate on the right. This is the Rhode Island State Police Training Academy.
