Colonel Steven G. O'Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of Public Safety, announces the arrest of a Lincoln man wanted for murder in Massachusetts.
On July 21, 2013 at 11:20 a.m., members of the Rhode Island State Police Major Crimes Unit, Violent Fugitive Task Force, Lincoln Woods Barracks, United States Marshals' Service, Lincoln Police Department, and Providence Police Department, assisted by members of the Massachusetts State Police, arrested Willie Wilkerson, age 27, of 1200 Lonsdale Avenue, Lincoln, Rhode Island as a Fugitive from Justice from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. On July 20, 2013, members of the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office obtained an affidavit and arrest warrant charging Wilkerson with murder. The multi-agency investigation to locate Wilkerson led to a surveillance of 1200 Lonsdale Avenue, Lincoln. During the surveillance Wilkerson was observed leaving the residence and was arrested without incident.
Fugitive Wilkerson was processed and arraigned at the Lincoln Woods Barracks as a Fugitive from Justice. Justice of the Peace Lincoln S. Leonard ordered Wilkerson held at the Adult Correctional Institution pending arraignment in Sixth Division District Court on Monday, July 22, 2013.
