Four Beaches Now Open for Swimming

HEALTH officials recommend re-opening Grinell's Beach, Fogland Beach, Peabody's Beach, and Goddard Memorial State Park for swimming. This recommendation is based on results from water samples that show bacteria levels within acceptable limits. HEALTH will continue to monitor the water quality regularly to assure safe bathing throughout the summer season.

HEALTH officials recommended the closure of Sandy Point in Portsmouth and Fort Adams State Park in Newport to swimming due to high bacteria counts. Officials will continue to monitor the water quality and recommend re-opening when the area is safe for swimming.

The following licensed beach remains closed to swimming: Scarborough State Beach in Narragansett

PLEASE NOTE: BEACH STATUS MAY CHANGE ON A DAILY BASIS. For up to date information about swimming at Rhode Island beaches call (401) 222-2751.
