Colonel Steven G. O'Donnell, Superintendent, of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety, announces that as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Old Bulgarmarsh Road in the Town of Tiverton Tuesday morning, members of the Rhode Island State Police arrested a Fall River man for various criminal charges including felony warrants for robbery of two banks and two convenience stores.
On Tuesday October 22, 2013 at 1:58 a.m., Troopers from the Wickford Barracks conducted a motor vehicle stop for a headlight violation on Old Bulgarmarsh Road in the Town of Tiverton. During the motor vehicle stop Troopers identified a passenger as; Michael Pacheco, age 33, of 83 Quarry Street, Fall River, Massachusetts. An inquiry was conducted with the Fall River Police Department, at which time it was learned that Mr. Pacheco was wanted for four (4) robberies in the City of Fall River. Mr. Pacheco was placed into custody without incident and returned to Rhode Island State Police Headquarters where both uniform members and detectives continued the investigation.
Mr. Pacheco was also interviewed by members of the Fall River Police Department regarding recent robberies at the St. Anne's Credit Union, Bay Coast Bank, Tedeschi Food Mart and a Seven Eleven Convenience Store. all located in the City of Fall River.
Mr. Pacheco was arraigned on October 22, 2013 on the following charges: 1. Obstruction of a Police Officer, 2. Operating on a Suspended License, and 3. Fugitive from Justice from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Mr. Pacheco was charged by the Fall River Police Department with 1. Unarmed Robbery, 2. Two (2) counts of Attempt to Commit a Crime. 3. Armed Robbery, and 4. Assault to Commit a Felony.
Mr. Pacheco waived extradition and was turned over to the Fall River Police Department. Mr. Pacheco is scheduled to appear for a Pre-Trial Conference at Second Division District Court on November 5, 2013.
