Oscar Muralles Found Guilty of Multiple Counts of Child Molestation

Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin announced that Oscar Muralles (aka Walter Muralles, age 38), with a last known address of 99 Penn Street, Providence, was found guilty today of two counts of first degree child molestation and two counts of second degree child molestation. The Providence County Superior Court jury returned the verdict in just over four hours after a 3 ½ day trial before Superior Court Justice Robert D. Krause.

During the course of the trial, the State proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Muralles molested a young boy known to him on multiple occasions when the victim was between eight and nine years old. The victim initially disclosed the molestation to his mother, who reported it to the Providence Police.

Providence Police Detective Christopher Rotella led the investigation and Special Assistant Attorney General Alison DeCosta prosecuted the case on behalf of the Office of Attorney General. Muralles was remanded to the ACI pending sentencing.
