Rhode Island State Police Identify Those Involved in Wrong Way Fatal Accident on Route 95

Colonel Steven G. O'Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of Public Safety, announces the identities of all parties involved in the fatal wrong way motor vehicle accident on Route 95 South, in the City of Pawtucket, at approximately 3 AM on February 28, 2014.

The operator of the vehicle traveling the wrong way is identified as Estefani Almanzar, age 21, of 17 Spicer Street, Providence, Rhode Island. Ms. Almanzar remains in critical condition as a result of injuries sustained from the accident. Ms. Almanzar was the lone occupant of her vehicle.

The operator of the vehicle traveling the correct way on Route 95 South and consequently struck by Ms. Almanzar's vehicle, is identified as Weiming Chien, age 30, of 3040 Pawtucket Avenue, Riverside, Rhode Island. Mr. Chien is currently in stable condition at Rhode Island Hospital.

The front seat passenger of Mr. Chien's vehicle is identified as Jean Liu, age 20, of 333 Atwells Avenue, Providence, Rhode Island. Ms. Liu is currently is stable condition at Rhode Island Hospital.

The rear operator's side passenger of Mr. Chien's vehicle was identified as Sheng Zhou, age 27, of 3044 Pawtucket Avenue, Riverside, Rhode Island. As a result of injuries sustained in the accident, Ms. Zhou was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital at 4:05 AM on February 28, 2014.

The investigation is ongoing and as of this time, no charges have been filed.
