Traffic Advisory: Section of Plainfield Street in Olneyville Reopens to Two-Way Traffic

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) announced today that a portion of Plainfield Street in Olneyville, located between Hartford Avenue and Service Road in Providence, has reopened to two-way traffic. A short detour was established for westbound traffic in late May as part of the Magnolia Street Bridge Project.

The detour - as well as the temporary closure of the Plainfield Street on-ramp to Route 6 East - was necessary to demolish the Magnolia Street Bridge. The bridge is being removed as part of a plan to realign Route 6 and improve safety and traffic flow in this area. The on-ramp is scheduled to reopen this month.

Additional information will be posted to the department's website and Facebook (www.facebook.com/RIDOTNews) and Twitter (www.twitter.com/RIDOTNews) pages.
