Interim Report of the Newport County Grand Jury (Reported August 1, 2014)

Duane Gomes, age 19

The Newport County Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Duane Gomes with five counts of first degree child molestation. It is alleged that on or about dates between June 1, 2013 and July 31, 2013, Gomes molested a child 14 years of age or under. The alleged events took place in Newport.

The Newport Police conducted the investigation. Gomes is scheduled to be arraigned in Newport County Superior Court on August 14, 2014.

The Newport County Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Marc Washington and Jake Duncan each with one count of first degree robbery, one count of breaking and entering in a dwelling, one count of breaking and entering in a building, and three counts of conspiracy. Duncan is also charged with an additional count of breaking and entering in a building.

It is alleged that on or about December 1, 2013, Washington and Duncan conspired to and did rob an individual, with the robbery being in the first degree. It is also alleged that on or about November 23, 2013, Washington and Duncan conspired to and did break into a house. It is further alleged that on or about a date between November 25, 2013 and November 26, 2013, Washington and Duncan conspired to and did break into a building at 11 Bowens Wharf. It is also alleged that on or about November 30, 2013, Duncan broke into a building at 11 Bowens Wharf.

The alleged events took place in Newport and the Newport Police conducted the investigation. Washington and Duncan are scheduled to be arraigned in Newport County Superior Court on August 14, 2014.
