Interim Report of the Statewide Grand Jury (Reported September 10, 2014)

The Statewide Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Joshua Ortiz and Luis Roman each with one count of conspiracy to commit assault with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon, use of a firearm while committing a crime of violence, carrying a pistol without a license, conspiracy to commit breaking and entering, breaking and entering, conspiracy to commit robbery, and assault with intent to rob.

It is alleged that on or about November 13, 2013, Joshua Ortiz and Luis Roman conspired to a break into a home and assault its occupant. Once inside the residence, it is alleged that Ortiz and Roman assaulted the occupant with a firearm, which they were not licensed to carry.

The alleged incidents took place in Providence, and the Providence Police conducted the investigation. Ortiz and Roman were arraigned in Providence County Superior Court before Justice Robert D. Krause on September 17, 2014.
