Daquan Watts Pleads Guilty to the 2013 Christmas Eve Murder of Ryan Almeida

Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin announced that Daquan Watts, age 20, with a last known address of 26 Hollis Street, Providence, pleaded guilty today before Superior Court Justice Robert D. Krause to first degree murder, discharge of a firearm death resulting, conspiracy to commit murder and carrying a pistol without a license.

Sentencing is scheduled for January 7, 2015.

Had the case proceeded to trial, the State was prepared to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that on December 24, 2013, Watts and Jose Lopez shot Ryan Almeida outside of an apartment complex in Pawtucket. Almeida died as a result of his injuries.

Pawtucket Police Detectives Donti Rosciti and David Silva led the investigation. Special Assistant Attorneys General John Moreira and David Bonzagni prosecuted the case on behalf of the Office of Attorney General.
