Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin announced that Christian "Chay" Rosado (age 27), of Woonsocket, was sentenced yesterday to 35 years with 20 years to serve and the remainder suspended with probation, for the March 2013 Fairmount Bridge shooting that injured Ikey Wilson.
Rosado was found guilty in September by a Providence County Superior Court jury of two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon after a weeklong trial before Superior Court Justice Robert D. Krause.
During the course of the trial, the state proved that at approximately 10:00 p.m. on March 30, 2013, Rosado fired a semi-automatic weapon at Ikey Wilson and his girlfriend Jalisa Collins as they were walking along the Fairmount Bridge in Woonsocket. Wilson was struck in the leg and buttocks with bullets and Collins was not struck. Rosado fled the scene and was apprehended a day later by the Woonsocket Police. The firearm was not recovered.
Woonsocket Lt. Mark Cabral led the investigation and Special Assistant Attorneys General Roger Demers and Eric Batista prosecuted the case on behalf of the Office of Attorney General.
