PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Lt. Governor Daniel McKee issued a statement Wednesday on the announcement that Dr. Frances Gallo will retire as superintendent of the Central Falls School District at the end of the academic year:
"Fran Gallo's bold and principled leadership has changed the way teachers, parents and students think about what's possible in public education, both in Central Falls and throughout Rhode Island.
Dr. Gallo has pioneered district-charter collaboration through the Central Falls District-Charter Compact. She has been willing to think outside the box about regionalization and economically diverse student populations. Most of all, she has been a tireless advocate for the children and families she has served so well.
Dr. Gallo's impact will be felt for a long time to come, and I'm confident she will continue to find ways to contribute to the health and betterment of our state."
