PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Lt. Governor Daniel J. McKee issued a statement today on the selection of Commissioner Deborah Gist by the Tulsa Board of Education as the next superintendent of Tulsa Public Schools:
"Commissioner Gist has been a critical part of the effort to transform public education in Rhode Island, and her vision and leadership have been invaluable. I am grateful for the work she has done to raise expectations, boost student learning and close achievement gaps.
I know the Commissioner is honored to have been chosen to lead the district where she grew up, and I extend my congratulations as she embarks on this new chapter. She will be missed."
