Final Report of the Providence County Grand Jury (Reported May 22, 2015)

David Bottoms, age 44 277 Mason Street Woonsocket, RI P1-2015-1671A

The Providence County Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging David Bottoms with two counts of first degree child molestation, three counts of second degree child molestation, three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, one count of first degree sexual assault, and three counts of second degree sexual assault.

It is alleged that on several occasions between September 1, 2010 and January 21, 2015, Bottoms molested a female 14 years of age or under and sexually assaulted a young female over 14 years of age. It is further alleged the Bottoms contributed to the delinquency of the two victims by introducing them to smoking crack cocaine.

The Woonsocket Police led the investigation. Bottoms is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on June 10, 2015.

Jamon Brown, age 19 138 Hanover Street Providence, RI P1-2015-1684A

The Providence County Grand Jury reported out an indictment today charging Jamon Brown with one count of manslaughter. It is alleged that on or about October 22, 2014, Brown did strike Michael Taylor in an unlawful act, not amounting to a felony, causing his unintentional death on or about October 27, 2014.

The alleged incident took place in Central Falls. The Central Falls Police conducted the investigation. Brown is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on June 10, 2015.

Jeremy Leiva, age 23 25 Edgemere Avenue Providence, RI P1-2015-1685A

The Providence County Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Jeremy Leiva with one count of DUI death resulting, one count of driving to endanger death resulting, two counts of driving under the influence resulting in serious bodily injury, and two counts of driving to endanger resulting in serious physical injury.

It is alleged that on or about March 8, 2015, Leiva was under the influence of alcohol when he drove the wrong way on Route 95 heading south in the northbound lane near Exit 26 off Lonsdale Avenue in Pawtucket when he struck an oncoming vehicle, causing the death of his passenger Flory Hernandez and injuring, Andrea and Scott Spillane, the occupants of the vehicle he struck.

The alleged incident took place in Pawtucket. The Rhode Island State Police conducted the investigation. Leiva is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on June 10, 2015.

Hector Diaz, age 21 44 Bowdoin Street Providence, RI P1-2015-1686A

The Providence County Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Hector Diaz with one count of DUI death resulting, one count of driving to endanger death resulting, and two counts of driving to endanger resulting in bodily injury.

It is alleged that on or about March 28, 2015, Diaz was driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana on Route 95 North in Providence when his car struck a utility pole and rolled over, causing the death of passenger Anthony Nunez and the injury of passengers Jennifer and Jasleen Gomez.

The Rhode Island State Police conducted the investigation. Diaz is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on June 10, 2015.

Joel Norman, age 25 15 Arkwright Street Webster, MA P1-2015-1687A

The Providence County Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Joel Norman with two counts of DUI death resulting, two counts of driving to endanger death resulting and one count of possession of cocaine.

It is alleged that on or about April 5, 2015, Norman was under the influence of alcohol when he drove the wrong way on Route 6 in Providence and struck an oncoming vehicle near Tobey Street in Providence, causing the death of Tiffany Sical and Brayan Rodriguez Solis. It is further alleged that Norman was in possession of cocaine at the time.

The Rhode Island State Police conducted the investigation. Norman is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on June 3, 2015.

Kristen Knight, age 25 126 Earle Street Woonsocket, RI P1-2015-1688B

The Providence County Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Miguel Rondon and Kristen Knight each with one count of conspiracy, one count of burglary, four counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, and two counts of simple assault.

It is alleged that on March 24, 2015, Rondon and Knight, along with an unnamed juvenile, conspired to commit robbery. It is further alleged that Rondon, Knight, and the unnamed juvenile burglarized a home in Woonsocket and assaulted four individuals with a hatchet and assaulted two others.

The Woonsocket Police conducted the investigation. Rondon and Knight are scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on June 10, 2015.

Leopoldo Belen, age 34 381 Third Avenue Woonsocket, RI P1-2015-1689AG

The Providence County Grand Jury reported out a secret indictment charging Leopoldo Belen with one count of first degree murder, two counts of breaking and entering, one count of assault with intent to rob, one count of use of a firearm while committing a crime of violence, two counts of conspiracy, one count of possession of a firearm being previously convicted of a crime of violence, five counts of larceny of a firearm, and one count of larceny over $1,500.

It is alleged that on or about October 5, 2013, Belen, with Joel Valdez, broke into the dwelling of Jonathan Angilly with the intent to rob him. It is further alleged that Belen and Valdez assaulted Angilly with a firearm and assaulted and murdered Delor Cabral.

It is further alleged that on or about October 1, 2013, Belen, with Joel Valdez, broke into a home in Providence and stole several firearms, including a .9 mm pistol, an AK-47 rifle, a Mossberg shotgun, a .45 caliber and an AR-15 rifle, along with an Apple Macbook Pro, cash, electronics, and jewelry.

Joel Valdez pleaded guilty to all charges before Superior Court Justice Netti C. Vogel on May 8, 2015. He is awaiting sentencing. Belen is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on May 28, 2015 before Justice Vogel.

The alleged incidents took place in Providence. The Providence Police conducted the investigation.
