The Providence County Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Richard Lopes with one count of first degree sexual assault, assault with a dangerous weapon and threatening a police officer. It is alleged that on or about April 15, 2015, Lopes sexually and physically assaulted a woman. It is further alleged Lopes threatened to kill the police officer who responded to the scene.
The alleged incidents took place in Providence and the Providence Police conducted the investigation. Lopes is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on October 28, 2015.
