PROVIDENCE, RI – Lt. Governor Dan McKee issued the following statement on the retirement of Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy:
"The sudden retirement of Justice Kennedy drastically and dangerously shifts the balance on future decisions that are important to women, our LGBTQ+ community and all Americans who will be negatively impacted by partisan politics playing out in our Supreme Court. Now more than ever, Rhode Islanders need to know that elected officials will stand up for them. As Lt. Governor, I will work with our state's leaders to defend a woman's right to choose, marriage equality and other civil rights no matter what happens in Washington."
