Interim Report of the Providence County Grand Jury (Reported October 2, 2018)

Shane Smith (age 28) 117 6th Street Providence, RI P1-2018-2844A

The Providence County Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Shane Smith with one count of possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver and one count of possession of marijuana over five kilos.

It is alleged that on or about August 29, 2017, Smith was operating an illegal marijuana grow and was in possession of more than five kilos of marijuana with the intent to deliver. At the time of the seizure, Johnston Police estimated the value of the marijuana to be approximately $40,000.

The alleged incident took place in Johnston and the Johnston Police conducted the investigation. Smith is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on October 24, 2018.

Aiden Childress (age 22) No permanent address P1-2018-2845B

The Providence County Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Matthew Torres and Aiden Childress each with one count of first degree robbery and one count of conspiracy.

It is alleged that on or about June 25, 2018, Torres and Childress robbed an individual with the robbery being in the first degree.

The alleged incident took place in Providence and the Providence Police conducted the investigation. Torres and Childress are scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on October 24, 2018.

Mario Aponte, Jr. (age 42) 13 Lincoln Avenue East Providence, RI P1-2018-2846A

The Providence County Grand Jury reported out a secret indictment charging Mario Aponte, Jr., with one count of first degree child molestation.

It is alleged that on or about a date between February 1, 2017 and August 31, 2017, Aponte sexually molested a person 14 years of age or under with the molestation being in the first degree.

The alleged incident took place in Providence and the Providence Police conducted the investigation. Aponte is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on October 10, 2018.
