Interim Report of the Statewide Grand Jury (Reported September 9, 2019)

Please note: An indictment, information, or complaint is merely an allegation. The U.S. Constitution guarantees that a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until found guilty in a court of law.

Tyrone Robinson, 19 Providence, RI P1-2019-5050AG

On September 9, 2019, the Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Tyrone Robinson with two counts of assault with intent to commit murder, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of discharging a firearm while committing a crime of violence, one count of carrying a pistol without a license, one count of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, one count of possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance, and one count of carrying a stolen firearm while committing a crime of violence.

Today's indictment stems from an incident in which Robinson is alleged to have shot at two Providence Police officers, injuring one, on Admiral Street on August 9, 2019. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on September 11, 2019 in Providence County Superior Court.
