DIRECTOR A.T. WALL PROMOTES PAWTUCKET’S JOANNE HILL TO ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, FINANCIAL RESOURCES

CRANSTON, R.I. – June 1, 2007 – Corrections Director A.T. Wall II is pleased to announce that Joanne M. Hill of Pawtucket, who has been capably serving in the role of Acting Associate Director – Financial Resources since January, has been promoted to Associate Director – Financial Resources, effective immediately. In announcing her promotion, Director Wall noted, “Corrections presents one of the state’s most challenging fiscal environments, and Joanne has just the right skill set and temperament for the job.”

In this role, Ms. Hill provides day-to-day management oversight of a division which includes budgeting, purchasing, warehousing operations, as well as custodial account functions. She is responsible for developing financial material for collective bargaining negotiations and other cost analyses on departmental functions. She oversees fiscal policy development and examines compliance with applicable state policies and statutes. Joanne has the challenging task of reviewing all facets of departmental operations to determine their cost-effectiveness and works with her unit management staff on every aspect of departmental fiscal or operational matters.

Ms. Hill’s dedication and professionalism have earned her the respect of her supervisors and peers. For ten years, she served as Administrator – Financial Management, a position to which she was promoted after serving for five years as Budget Administrator. No stranger to state service, Ms. Hill came to the RIDOC in 1992 form the Department of Administration, where she also moved up the ranks, serving as Acting Administrator of the Asset Protection Program for three years, Budget Analyst, Assistant Budget Analyst, Resource Specialist, and Student Intern.

Ms. Hill holds a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. She also holds a B.A. in Political Science from Providence College.
