Direcor A.T. Wall Promotes Arthur Fillo of Coventry, R.I., To Associate Director of Facilities and Maintenance

A.T. Wall, II, Director of the Rhode Island Department of Corrections, has announced the promotion of Arthur Fillo of Coventry, R.I., to Associate Director, Facilities and Maintenance. In this role, Fillo will plan, organize, and direct the maintenance and repair of all buildings owned by the Department and will be responsible for the maintenance of grounds and surrounding areas.

“Art Fillo has been a valued employee of this Department for over 30 years,” notes Director Wall. “He knows the buildings inside and out and has the organizational and management skills required of someone with this level of responsibility. We are pleased that he has accepted the promotion, which is well deserved.”

Fillo joined the Department in March of 1977. He has climbed through the ranks, most recently serving as Acting Associate Director of Facilities and Maintenance, following the retirement last spring of long-time Director of Facilities and Maintenance Ralph Lee. He began as a Maintenance Supervisor, a position he held for 11 years, moving on to Plant Engineer for two years, Maintenance Superintendent for 4 years, Chief of Construction & Maintenance Operations for six years, and State Buildings and Grounds Coordinator for eight years.

Fillo is a 1967 graduate of West Warwick (RI) High School and has taken courses in business administration and mechanical engineering at CCRI. He holds a Journeyman’s Certificate from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.
