Friday, September 18, a new movie based on the popular children’s book will open in theatres statewide. “The land of “Chew and swallow” presents weather disasters in a light and interesting way” stated Carole Zona, a fourth grade teacher at Marieville elementary school in North Providence,RI. Ms Zona played a major role in developing the content for the pilot STEP Program from FEMA that was introduced last year in Rhode Island.
For her and the school’s contribution, they were awarded the first annual STEP Award from FEMA last May along with Principal Bruce Butler and two of her fellow fourth grade teachers. (see attached award) She thought the new movie would be a great way to kick off the start of this years class so Friday morning, RIEMA and Carole will take the 48 students in the new class to the movie. Lincoln Mall Cinema will be the site and the movie starts at 11:00AM.
