Welcome to Rhode Island's Online Veteran Plate Remake service.

Veteran plates The General Assembly has passed legislation (RIGL 31-3-53) changing the design for the "War Veteran" plate. The legislation replaces the existing "War Veteran" plate with a "Veteran" plate and defines a "veteran" as any person who has served on active duty in the armed forces of the United States. The term "veteran" shall also include members of the National Guard and Reserves: (1) called to active duty authorized by the President of the United States or the Secretary of Defense; or (2) who have twenty (20) years of service with a letter and record of separation of service.

There will be a sticker on the upper right corner designating the branch of service or gold star parent. There is no fee for the remake of these plates.

For current "War Veteran" Plate holders ONLY! If you do not currently have a War Veteran plate and would like to request one, visit your local DMV branch.

If you are a current "War Veteran" plate holder, you can request a remake of your existing plate number with the newly designed "Veteran" plate by completing the following online form. Submitting this form will allow the DMV and the Department of Corrections to produce these plates while the recall of the old veteran plates is occurring. There is no charge for this service for current War Veteran plate holders and there will be no change to your plate registration number - only the design of the plate. You will need to turn in your original plates when you pick up your new plates.
