All Funds Budgeted for Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program Already Committed

No More Vouchers Will Be Issued; Further Applicants Go On Waiting List

There was an immediate and tremendous response to the Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program that began just yesterday. All of the available money, $882,000, has been committed to vouchers issued to applicants. No further vouchers will be issued.

Those who received vouchers have fifteen days to use them. The Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources will continue to take applications until April 9, 2010 so that these applicants can be placed on a waiting list to be used in case vouchers that have been issued are not used within the fifteen day period. Those wishing to be placed on a waiting list can visit the program's website at www.RIrebates.com or call 1-877-359-5795.

"We are very pleased that so many Rhode Islanders responded so quickly to this opportunity provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009," said Ronald Renaud, Executive Director of the Department of Administration and Office of Energy Resources. "The program will reduce energy consumption and benefit the local economy."
