Colonel Ann C. Assumpico, Director of the Rhode Island Department of Public Safety, announces that 12 firefighter trainees from five communities graduated from the Rhode Island Municipal Fire Academy on Friday, November 17, marking their completion of a nine-week training and certification program to become firefighters.
The graduation ceremony was held at the Rhode Island Fire Training Academy in Exeter. The ceremony honored the 12 new firefighters from five districts, including five from Barrington; three from Central Coventry; one from Cumberland; one from Nasonville; and two from West Warwick.
The ceremony included remarks from Acting State Fire Marshal James B. Gumbley, Mark S. Pare, Director of the Rhode Island Fire Training Academy, and Captain John M. Allen, Executive Office for the Rhode Island Department of Public Safety. The keynote address was presented by Francis Colantonio Jr., retired Deputy Chief of the Warwick Fire Department.
