DMV Duplicate License Request Service

This service may be used to request a duplicate Operator’s license from the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles. Requests for other duplicate credentials, such as a Commercial Driver’s License, must be done at the RI DMV. You will be required to provide updated information regarding your organ donor and voter registration status. We will use the photo and signature from your previous license. You do not need to appear at the DMV to complete this transaction.

Your new license will be mailed to the mailing address on file with the DMV, and you will have an opportunity to verify this address before completing your request. If an address change is necessary, you may change it online at www.ri.gov/DMV/address_change or by completing a Change of Address form and mailing it to the Cranston DMV.

Upon completion of your duplicate license request, you will be able to print a receipt or have it e-mailed to you. This receipt will be accepted for state and local law enforcement purposes. If you do not have a printer or e-mail address, you may request a duplicate of your license, but no receipt will be available indicating your request.

No Refunds and No Cancellations are available after completion of your duplicate request. Your duplicate license request will be processed within three business days. You will receive your new license in up to 60 days.
