Governor Carcieri Announces Appointments to Judicial Nominating Commission

Governor Donald L. Carcieri today announced three appointments to the Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC). Herbert (Hub) J. Brennan, DO, of Warwick, was appointed by the Governor as chairman of the JNC, for a term expiring June 15, 2011. Dr. Brennan has served on the JNC as a commissioner since 2007. The Governor also announced the appointments of Jeffrey Grybowski, Esquire, of Providence, for a term expiring June 15, 2012, and Norman Landroche, II, Esquire, of West Warwick, for a term expiring June 15, 2010.

“The role of the JNC is vitally important in shaping our state’s Judiciary,” said Governor Carcieri. “I am confident that Hub, Jeff and Norman understand the responsibility and the impact their deliberations will have on the execution of justice in Rhode Island.”

Governor Carcieri also extended his appreciation to Steve Carlotti, who served as chairman of the JNC since 2007. “I extend my appreciation and thanks to Steve for his leadership of the JNC. Since his appointment as chairman in 2007, the JNC has managed the complex and important nominating process for critical judicial vacancies, including that of the Chief Justice for the Rhode Island Supreme Court and the Presiding Justice of the Rhode Island Superior Court.”

Hub Brennan is a partner in Doctors Brennan, Cronin and DelSesto, a private internal medicine practice in East Greenwich, and is on staff at Kent County Memorial Hospital. Hub serves on many boards and associations, including a Trustee of Kent County Memorial Hospital, Treasurer of the RI Primary Care physicians Corporation, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the RI Center for Law and Public Policy, and immediate past-president of the Kent County Medical Society, among others.

Hub earned a bachelor of arts degree from Providence College (1988), a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (1992,) and completed his post doctoral training at Brown University and Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, where he served as chief medical resident.

Jeff Grybowski is a partner at the law firm of Hinckley, Allen & Snyder, LLP, with a focus on corporate and business law. Prior to joining Hinckley, Allen & Snyder in 2007, Jeff served in the Carcieri Administration, most recently as Chief of Staff. As Chief of Staff and in other roles for Governor Donald L. Carcieri of Rhode Island from 2003 to 2007, Jeff helped shape the policy and strategic direction of state government. Prior to his service in state government, Jeff practiced at Hinckley, Allen & Snyder in the litigation department, at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York City, and as Law Clerk to Chief Judge Ronald R. Lagueux of the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island.

Jeff is a graduate of Brown University (1993) and earned his juris doctor degree with high honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law (1998), where he served a publication editor of the North Carolina Law Review. Jeff is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association.

Norman Landroche, Jr., is a full time firefighter with the Town of West Warwick and a practicing attorney with the law firm of Murphy & Fay, LLP. Norman was a member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives from 2003 – 2006, where he served on the Judiciary Committee and the Veteran’s Affairs Committee, and as Secretary of the House Corporations Committee. Norman is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association.

A graduate of Bishop Hendricken high school, Norman earned his bachelor of arts in criminal justice at Sale Regina University (1988), and earned his juris doctor degree from Roger Williams School of Law (1998).

Norman resides in West Warwick with his wife Kimberly and their three children Logan, Leighton, and Brighton.
