The Energy Review Team is chaired by Jeffrey Seemann, Chair, RI Science and Technology Advisory Council (STAC) and Dean, College of the Environment and Life Sciences.
The Energy Review team will provide an update on the federal approval process of the state’s energy plan, provide an opportunity for the public and interested parties to learn about federal expectations for the use of stimulus funds to be administered through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants (EECBG).
In addition, Andrew Dzykewicz, vice-chair of the Energy Review Team and Commissioner for the Governor’s Office on Energy Resources, will give a presentation on the benefits of performance contracting.
Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), Rhode Island will receive $58 million in funds dedicated to a number of energy initiatives, including $20 million for weatherization programs, $14.5 million for state and municipal programs, and $24 million for other energy initiatives.
Energy funds are designed to support energy programs that create and retain jobs, realize energy savings for families, businesses, government and educational institutions, reduce the dependency on foreign energy sources and achieve environmental benefits.
