Corrections Director A.T. Wall Recognizes 311 Veterans

Corrections Director A.T. Wall II has posted the following message on the Rhode Island Department of Corrections Intranet site He has also requested that all managers post it in public areas and that shift commanders read it at roll call.

"Veterans’ Day is an opportunity for all of us to express our gratitude to the men and women who have dedicated their lives to protecting our great nation with honor and dignity. I am proud to acknowledge the 311 RIDOC staff, including 10 currently on active duty, who fall into this elite group that we honor on Wednesday, November 11, 2009.

It doesn’t surprise me that so many among our ranks have made sacrifices to protect the world’s freedom through military service. You have also chosen a profession which calls upon you to put yourselves in harm’s way every day to protect the public.

You embody the spirit of professionalism and moral integrity we so value here at the RIDOC. May you remain safe and mindful of the friendship and support of your colleagues. You’ve made me very proud to be your director."

The Rhode Island Department of Corrections is the largest employer of National Guard personnel in the state.
