Impact On Morning Rush Hour Will Be Significant
Storm will produce heavy snow for a few hours between 5:00 and 7:00 AM turning to rain between 7:00 and 9:00AM creating slick conditions with rain falling on slush and ponding water on most roads incentral and northern Rhode Island.
The National Weather Service is predicting a surge of 3 to 3.3 feet at the hurricane barrier at high tide. That would put the height of the river at 7.6 feet. Add to that an inch to an inch and a half of rain. Providence officials may consider closing the hurricane barrier once again.
Commuters should exercise extreme caution during the morning commute.
