The Ethics Commission held its 5th meeting of 2010 on March 9th, 2010.

At the 5th meeting of the Commission in 2010, the Commission issued the following advisory opinions:

A.O. 2010-12 to Richard G. Aubin, Jr., a member of the Central Falls City Council, opining that it is not a violation of the Code of Ethics for him to perform repair services on municipal vehicles as an employee of Quality Auto Repair, provided that he recuse, in accordance with R.I. Gen. Laws 36-14-6, when any matter comes before the City Council which may have a financial impact on Quality Auto, including any budgetary items regarding municipal auto repair, given that his father is the business owner and he is an employee .

The Commission conducted a Public Hearing on proposed regulatory amendments, pursuant to R.I. Gen. Laws 36-14-9 and 42-35-3 and voted to adopt the amendments as proposed to:

a.) Regulation 1006- Finding of Probable Cause.

b.) Regulation 1011- Informal Disposition.

c.) Regulation 1003- Initial Determination of Complaint.

d.) Regulation 12001- Preliminary Investigations.

e.) Regulation 1009- Subpoenas.

The Commission received information and had discussion regarding its regulatory authority.

The Commission received a legislative update from staff.
