Donations Sought for Flood Recovery Efforts - Central Website Offers Opportunities to Donate or Volunteer

Rhode Island residents affected by recent severe storms and flooding need assistance. The State of Rhode Island, in partnership with the United Way of Rhode Island and the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency, has established a donations management website to assist in connecting people who wish to donate money, goods, and services with responding agencies. These non profit organizations are tasked with assisting residents in short and long term recovery efforts. The public is urged to go to www.floodrecovery.ri.gov and follow the "Donate/Volunteer" link for specific donation information.

There are three arenas in which people can participate:

  1. Monetary Contributions - Monetary donations will allow non-profit agencies working in affected communities to buy exactly what individuals need. The Rhode Island Flood Recovery Fund is being managed by the United Way of Rhode Island. Donations can also be made to specific agencies, some of which are located outside of Rhode Island.
  2. Non-Cash or In-Kind Donations - These items have been specifically requested by provider agencies for clean-up products, replacement goods, or other specific needs of displaced Rhode Islanders.
  3. Volunteers - Deployment of volunteers is being coordinated and authorized through ServeRI.
All donations will go a long way to help in the short and long term recovery efforts on behalf of our Rhode Island neighbors and businesses.
