Afternoon Drive Advisory

Traffic Advisory For Afternoon Drive Time

A cold front is in far western New York and making its way eastward. This line is moving to the East at 25 - 30 MPH.

Before the arrival of these storms later this afternoon, mostly sunny skies should allow temperatures to rise into the lower 90's by 3:00 to 4:00 PM. This very warm to hot air mass combined with high levels of humidity today are expected to trigger the development of strong thunderstorms as this line of storms moves through the state between 5:00 - 9:00 PM.

As with most strong thunderstorm events, this event will depend in part on how hot it gets prior to the arrival of the storms. Other threats from these storms may include torrential rainfall and dangerous lightning with gusty winds.

Once again keep an eye to the sky later this afternoon.
