The Commission issued the following advisory opinions:
A.O. 2011-34 to Jodi M. Gladstone, an alternate member of the East Greenwich Zoning Board of Review, opining that she may appear before the East Greenwich Zoning Board of Review to obtain a dimensional variance for her personal residence, based on a finding that the unique facts as represented justify application of the hardship exception as provided in Rhode Island General Laws § 36-14-5(e)(1).
A.O. 2011-35 to Theresa C. Donovan, a member of the Exeter-West Greenwich Regional School Committee, opining that she may serve as a member of the negotiating team in collective bargaining with the Teachers’ Association/NEARI/NEA, notwithstanding that as an employee of the Town of Narragansett she is a member of Local 1179 of Rhode Island Council 94, AFL-CIO.
In the matter of In re: Maria Vallee, Complaint No. 2010-9, the Commission unanimously found that there is probable cause to believe that the Respondent violated the Code of Ethics. Accordingly, the case will proceed to a full adjudication on the merits.
