The Ethics Commission held its 11th meeting of 2011 on July 19, 2011.
The Commission considered the advisory opinion request of the Honorable Angel Taveras, the Mayor of the City of Providence. The Commission continued the matter to a future meeting in order to consider some additional information.
The Commission held an adjudicative hearing in the matter of In re: Joseph S. Larisa, Jr., Complaint No. 2010-12. The Commission unanimously found that the Respondent, Joseph S. Larisa, Jr., while a member of the East Providence City Council, represented the Estate of Marilyn W. Jones before the East Providence Probate Court on March 9, 2010, in violation of R.I. Gen. Laws § 36-14-5(e)(2), and imposed a fine of $1,000.
