The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) announced today that a portion of I-95 North in Pawtucket will be closed during the early morning hours on Monday, October 17, to remove an overhead sign. Northbound lanes will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. between Exit 27 (Downtown) and Exit 28 (School Street). The work was postponed from earlier this week.
Construction crews will remove the existing overhead sign for Exit 28 and Exit 29 (Cottage Street) while work continues on the new School Street off-ramp. A temporary sign will be erected for Exit 29 just after the bridge. A permanent overhead sign for both exits will be installed next month, when the new off-ramp opens to traffic.
Traffic will follow the existing Pawtucket River Bridge detour for heavy vehicles:
• I-95 Northbound (Exit 27) Pearl Street to Marrin Street
• Marrin Street to George Street intersection
• George Street to left on Grace Street
• Grace Street to Division Street (Left Lane)
• Left on Prospect Street to Vernon Street on-ramp to I-95 North
